Danish EU priorities

Political agreement regarding Denmark in the enlarged EU.

Prior to the Danish ratification of the Lisbon Treaty a political agreement regarding Danish EU policy in a globalised world was agreed upon between the Government (the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party), the Social Democrats, the Socialist People’s Party, the Danish Social-Liberal Party and New Alliance.

The People's Party and the Red-Green Alliance are not a part of the political agreement.

The political agreement of 21 February 2008 replaces the 2004-agreement, which was agreed upon previous to the planned ratification of the Constitutional Treaty.

During the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2012, the main Danish priorities were expressed as "A responsible Europe, a dynamic Europe, a green Europe and a safe Europe".

Currently, a new political agreement on EU affairs is being negotiated.
